Sponsorship Shopping/Pick Up Appointment

Please read this entire page before signing up for an appointment.

If you are a sponsor who is working with Refugee Empowerment Center or Lutheran Family Services, and you are ready to shop/pick up furniture for your incoming sponsored family, please sign-up for a 90 minute shopping appointment and/or a 30 minute pick up appointment via the calendars below. Shopping and Pick Up Rules

Shopping appointments

  1. You must make an appointment to shop. You can shop and pick up furniture on the same day, or you can shop and hold furniture in our building for up to one week.
  2. Sponsors must be accompanied by a staff member from REC and LFS. Please work this out ahead of time. You will not be able to shop without a REC or LFS staff member present.
  3. Sponsors must bring at least two people (we recommend three or four) to the shopping appointment, as you will need to move picked out furniture from the warehouse to the holding area. If you are picking up furniture at the same time, please bring a minimum of 5 people. Restoring Dignity staff cannot assist with moving furniture. We have dollies available for moving heavy items.
  4. Only take enough for the family you are sponsoring. Take what you need, leave what you don’t. We have limits for what can be taken, by household size. Your REC/LFS caseworker will work with you to stay within the limits.
  5. You will have 90 minutes to shop/shop + pick up items. Since there are often multiple sponsors signed up on one day, we have to enforce this time limit.
  6. Come with a list of what is needed for the family.
  7. We are only open during our operating hours. We are not open on Sundays. We cannot open outside of our operating hours. If there is a day/time issue with picking up furniture, please plan ahead. Other groups have rented U-Hauls and picked up furniture on Saturday morning, for a Sunday house setup. 
  8. There are no shopping appointments on Saturdays. Saturdays are incredibly busy with sponsors picking up furniture and donors dropping off items. You can shop during the week and pick-up furniture on Saturdays.


Pick-up appointments

  1. You must make an appointment to pick up reserved furniture.
  2. Please bring enough people to move furniture into your vehicle (we recommend a minimum of 5 people, if there is a lot of furniture to move). Restoring Dignity staff cannot assist with moving furniture. We have dollies available for moving heavy items.
  3. You will have a 30 minute window of time to pick up furniture. Since there are often multiple sponsors signed up to pick up furniture on one day (especially on Saturdays), we have to enforce this time limit.
  4. You will not be allowed to shop for additional items while you are picking up reserved items.
  5. We are only open during our operating hours. We are not open on Sundays. We cannot open outside of our operating hours. If there is a day/time issue with picking up furniture, please plan ahead. Other groups have rented U-Hauls and picked up furniture on Saturday morning, for a Sunday house setup.
